ADVISORY AGAINST QUALITY COMPLAINTS AND TRADE DISPUTES
It is being observed that certain individuals or entities, purportedly representing themselves as legitimate buyers or importers, have engaged in fraudulent activities including, but not limited to:
→ Offering false or misleading information regarding their financial standing, business credentials, or import capabilities.
→ Requesting goods or services without the intention of making payment, resulting in financial loss to Indian exporters or their buying agents.
→ Engaging in deceptive practices such as providing fake documents, forged bank statements, or fraudulent purchase orders.
→ These fraudulent activities not only jeopardize the financial well-being of legitimate businesses but also undermine trust and integrity within the global trade community.
Considering these concerns, we urge all parties engaged in international trade to exercise utmost caution and due diligence when dealing with their buyers / importers. It is imperative to verify the authenticity of potential partners through rigorous background checks, verification of credentials, and the use of secure payment methods.
The exporters need to take complete details with regards to the procedure of importation of their shipment / goods in the destination port / country.
Furthermore, if established, then we encourage immediate reporting of any suspicious or fraudulent activities to the relevant authorities in India or in the destination country, as well as sharing information within the business community / EPCH to prevent further harm.
EPCH is committed to encourage the highest standards of integrity and transparency in all business dealings. We remain vigilant against fraudulent practices and will continue to take proactive measures to protect the greater interests of exports between Indian exporters and overseas importers.
EPCH hereby alerts all members about the presence of fraudulent overseas buyers and importers in the market.
